Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install mbpoll on Ubuntu.
What is mbpoll
mbpoll is:
mbpoll uses libmodbus (http://libmodbus.org/). Although the syntax of these options is very close modpoll proconX program, it is a completely independent project.
mbpoll can:
- read discrete inputs
- read and write binary outputs (coil)
- read input registers
- read and write output registers (holding register)
The reading and writing registers may be in decimal, hexadecimal or floating single precision.
There are three methods to install mbpoll on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mbpoll Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
