How To Install lxqt-core on Ubuntu

Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install lxqt-core on Ubuntu.
What is lxqt-core
lxqt-core is:
LXQt is an advanced, easy-to-use, and fast desktop environment based on Qt technologies. It has been tailored for users who value simplicity, speed, and an intuitive interface. Unlike most desktop environments, LXQt also works fine with less powerful machines.
This package is a metapackage meant to provide the core components of LXQt. These include pcmanfm-qt, lxqt-panel, lxqt-runner, lxqt-session and esp. lxqt-qtplugin (needed for communication between session, components and applications).
Recommend for lean and/or parallel installation with other desktop environments.
There are three methods to install lxqt-core on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install lxqt-core Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install lxqt-core using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install lxqt-core
Install lxqt-core Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install lxqt-core using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install lxqt-core
Install lxqt-core Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install lxqt-core using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install lxqt-core
How To Uninstall lxqt-core on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the lxqt-core package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove lxqt-core
Uninstall lxqt-core And Its Dependencies
To uninstall lxqt-core and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove lxqt-core
Remove lxqt-core Configurations and Data
To remove lxqt-core configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge lxqt-core
Remove lxqt-core configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove lxqt-core configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge lxqt-core
