In this tutorial we learn how to install lxmenu-data on Ubuntu.

What is lxmenu-data

lxmenu-data is:

LXMenu-data is a component for the Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE).

It contains files required to build desktop menus for LXDE complying to the freedesktop.org menu specification.

There are three methods to install lxmenu-data on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install lxmenu-data Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install lxmenu-data using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update
