In this tutorial we learn how to install lxlauncher on Ubuntu.

What is lxlauncher

lxlauncher is:

LXLauncher is a GUI application for the Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment (LXDE).

It is a Easy-Mode launcher for netbooks and subnotebooks like the EeePC. It’s standard-compliant and desktop-independent. It follows freedesktop.org specs, so newly added applications will automatically show up in the launcher, and vice versa for the removed ones.

There are three methods to install lxlauncher on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install lxlauncher Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install lxlauncher using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install lxlauncher

Install lxlauncher Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install lxlauncher using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install lxlauncher

Install lxlauncher Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

To uninstall only the lxlauncher package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove lxlauncher

To remove lxlauncher configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge lxlauncher
