In this tutorial we learn how to install lua-dbi-postgresql on Ubuntu.

What is lua-dbi-postgresql

lua-dbi-postgresql is:

Lua DBI is a database interface library for Lua. It is designed to provide a RDBMS agnostic API for handling database operations. LuaDBI also provides support for prepared statement handles, placeholders and bind parameters for all database operations.

This package contains the PostgreSQL backend.

Lua DBI is a better alternative to lua-sql since it supports prepared statements.

There are three methods to install lua-dbi-postgresql on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install lua-dbi-postgresql Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install lua-dbi-postgresql using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install lua-dbi-postgresql

Install lua-dbi-postgresql Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install lua-dbi-postgresql using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install lua-dbi-postgresql

Install lua-dbi-postgresql Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install lua-dbi-postgresql using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install lua-dbi-postgresql

How To Uninstall lua-dbi-postgresql on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the lua-dbi-postgresql package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove lua-dbi-postgresql

Uninstall lua-dbi-postgresql And Its Dependencies

To uninstall lua-dbi-postgresql and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove lua-dbi-postgresql

Remove lua-dbi-postgresql Configurations and Data

To remove lua-dbi-postgresql configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge lua-dbi-postgresql

Remove lua-dbi-postgresql configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove lua-dbi-postgresql configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge lua-dbi-postgresql
