Lsof is a Unix-specific diagnostic tool. Its name stands for LiSt Open Files, and it does just that. It lists information about any files that are open, by processes currently running on the system.
There are three methods to install lsof on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install lsof Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install lsof using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install lsof

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install lsof using apt by running the following command:

Install lsof Using aptitude
