on Ubuntu.
What is libxt-dev
libxt-dev is:
libXt provides the X Toolkit Intrinsics, an abstract widget library upon which other toolkits are based. Xt is the basis for many toolkits, including the Athena widgets (Xaw), and LessTif (a Motif implementation).
This package contains the development headers for the library found in libxt6. Non-developers likely have little use for this package.

There are three methods to install libxt-dev
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libxt-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libxt-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libxt-dev

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libxt-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libxt-dev
Install libxt-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libxt-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libxt-dev
How To Uninstall libxt-dev on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libxt-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libxt-dev

To uninstall libxt-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libxt-dev

configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libxt-dev
