In this tutorial we learn how to install libxerces-c3.2 on Ubuntu.

What is libxerces-c3.2

libxerces-c3.2 is:

Xerces-C++ is a validating XML parser written in a portable subset of C++. Xerces-C++ makes it easy to give your application the ability to read and write XML data. A shared library is provided for parsing, generating, manipulating, and validating XML documents. Xerces-C++ is faithful to the XML 1.0 recommendation and associated standards (DOM 1.0, DOM 2.0, SAX 1.0, SAX 2.0, Namespaces, XML Schema Part 1 and Part 2). It also provides experimental implementations of XML 1.1 and DOM Level 3.0. The parser provides high performance, modularity, and scalability.

There are three methods to install libxerces-c3.2 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libxerces-c3.2 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libxerces-c3.2 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libxerces-c3.2

Install libxerces-c3.2 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libxerces-c3.2 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libxerces-c3.2

Install libxerces-c3.2 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libxerces-c3.2 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libxerces-c3.2

How To Uninstall libxerces-c3.2 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libxerces-c3.2 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libxerces-c3.2

Uninstall libxerces-c3.2 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libxerces-c3.2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libxerces-c3.2

Remove libxerces-c3.2 Configurations and Data

To remove libxerces-c3.2 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libxerces-c3.2

Remove libxerces-c3.2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libxerces-c3.2 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libxerces-c3.2
