Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libxcb-imdkit1 on Ubuntu.

What is libxcb-imdkit1

libxcb-imdkit1 is:

xcb-imdkit is an implementation of XIM protocol in XCB. Comparing with the implementation of IMDkit with Xlib and xim inside Xlib, it has less memory foot print, better performance and safer on malformed client.

It doesn’t have complete protocol support though since some part of the protocol is never used.

This package provides shared library of xcb-imdkit.

There are three methods to install libxcb-imdkit1 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libxcb-imdkit1 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libxcb-imdkit1 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libxcb-imdkit1

Install libxcb-imdkit1 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libxcb-imdkit1 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libxcb-imdkit1

Install libxcb-imdkit1 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libxcb-imdkit1 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libxcb-imdkit1

How To Uninstall libxcb-imdkit1 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libxcb-imdkit1 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libxcb-imdkit1

Uninstall libxcb-imdkit1 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libxcb-imdkit1 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libxcb-imdkit1

Remove libxcb-imdkit1 Configurations and Data

To remove libxcb-imdkit1 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libxcb-imdkit1

Remove libxcb-imdkit1 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libxcb-imdkit1 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libxcb-imdkit1
