Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libwpd-tools on Ubuntu.
What is libwpd-tools
libwpd-tools is:
libwpd is a library for reading and writing WordPerfect(TM) documents. Importing from WordPerfect 4/5/6/7/8/9/10/11 and WordPerfect for Macintosh 1.x/2.x/3.5e files are supported. libwpd has complete support for the entire set of WordPerfect extended characters, too.
This package contains some little programs using libwpd to convert WordPerfect files into HTML/Raw files and Text.
There are three methods to install libwpd-tools on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libwpd-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libwpd-tools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libwpd-tools
Install libwpd-tools Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libwpd-tools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libwpd-tools
Install libwpd-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libwpd-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libwpd-tools
How To Uninstall libwpd-tools on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libwpd-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libwpd-tools
Uninstall libwpd-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libwpd-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libwpd-tools
Remove libwpd-tools Configurations and Data
To remove libwpd-tools configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libwpd-tools
Remove libwpd-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
