Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libubootenv-dev on Ubuntu.

What is libubootenv-dev

libubootenv-dev is:

libubootenv is a library that provides a hardware independent way to access to U-Boot environment. U-Boot has its default environment compiled board-dependently and this means that tools to access the environment are also board specific, too.

This package contains files that are needed to build applications.

There are three methods to install libubootenv-dev on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libubootenv-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libubootenv-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libubootenv-dev

Install libubootenv-dev Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libubootenv-dev using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libubootenv-dev

Install libubootenv-dev Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libubootenv-dev using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libubootenv-dev

How To Uninstall libubootenv-dev on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libubootenv-dev package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libubootenv-dev

To uninstall libubootenv-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libubootenv-dev

Remove libubootenv-dev Configurations and Data

To remove libubootenv-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libubootenv-dev

Remove libubootenv-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libubootenv-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libubootenv-dev
