Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libtwolame0 on Ubuntu.

What is libtwolame0

libtwolame0 is:

TwoLAME is an optimized MPEG Audio Layer 2 encoder. It is based on tooLAME by Mike Cheng, which in turn is based upon the ISO dist10 code and portions of LAME.

TwoLAME does NOT support MPEG Audio Layer 3 (MP3) encoding due to patent issues surrounding MP3.

However, as most MPEG Audio players are able to play layer 2 (MP2) files, TwoLAME makes a very good drop-in replacement for LAME and other layer 3 encoders.

This package contains the shared library.

There are three methods to install libtwolame0 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libtwolame0 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libtwolame0 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libtwolame0

Install libtwolame0 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libtwolame0 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libtwolame0

Install libtwolame0 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libtwolame0 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libtwolame0

How To Uninstall libtwolame0 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libtwolame0 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libtwolame0

Uninstall libtwolame0 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libtwolame0 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libtwolame0

Remove libtwolame0 Configurations and Data

To remove libtwolame0 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libtwolame0

Remove libtwolame0 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libtwolame0 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libtwolame0
