In this tutorial we learn how to install libspatialite7 on Ubuntu.
What is libspatialite7
libspatialite7 is:
The SpatiaLite extension enables SQLite to support spatial (geometry) data in a way conformant to OpenGis specifications, with both WKT and WKB formats.
Spatialite also includes Virtualshape and Virtualtext to enable accessing shapefiles and csv/text files as virtual tables.
This package contains all shared libraries used by Spatialite based programs.
There are three methods to install libspatialite7 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libspatialite7 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libspatialite7 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libspatialite7
Install libspatialite7 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libspatialite7 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libspatialite7
Install libspatialite7 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libspatialite7 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libspatialite7
How To Uninstall libspatialite7 on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libspatialite7 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libspatialite7
Uninstall libspatialite7 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libspatialite7 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libspatialite7
Remove libspatialite7 Configurations and Data
To remove libspatialite7 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libspatialite7
Remove libspatialite7 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libspatialite7 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libspatialite7
