Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libsnappy-jni
on Ubuntu.
What is libsnappy-jni
libsnappy-jni is:
Java port of Snappy, a fast compresser/decompresser written in C++, originally developed by Google.
Snappy’s main target is very high-speed compression/decompression with reasonable compression size. So the compression ratio of snappy-java is modest and about the same as LZF (ranging 20%-100% according to the dataset).
This package contains the architecture specific Java native interface part.
There are three methods to install libsnappy-jni
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsnappy-jni Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libsnappy-jni
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libsnappy-jni

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libsnappy-jni
