In this tutorial we learn how to install libsnappy-java
on Ubuntu.
What is libsnappy-java
libsnappy-java is:
Java port of Snappy, a fast compresser/decompresser written in C++, originally developed by Google.
Snappy’s main target is very high-speed compression/decompression with reasonable compression size. So the compression ratio of snappy-java is modest and about the same as LZF (ranging 20%-100% according to the dataset).
There are three methods to install libsnappy-java
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsnappy-java Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libsnappy-java
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libsnappy-java
Install libsnappy-java Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libsnappy-java
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libsnappy-java
Install libsnappy-java Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libsnappy-java
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libsnappy-java
How To Uninstall libsnappy-java on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libsnappy-java
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libsnappy-java
Uninstall libsnappy-java And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libsnappy-java
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsnappy-java
Remove libsnappy-java Configurations and Data
To remove libsnappy-java
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libsnappy-java
Remove libsnappy-java configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libsnappy-java
