Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libsidutils-dev on Ubuntu.
What is libsidutils-dev
libsidutils-dev is:
This library contains various things deemed useful to all SID players (Emulations of the C64’s SID chip (MOS 6581) and CPU (6510)), and currently every player seems to be re-inventing. It is used by several “player” applications, e.g. sidplay.
Support so far is:
- INI file reader.
- MD5 key creation.
- Song length database parser.
- Sid filter file parser.
Coming soon:
- Playlist parser (load and save).
- STIL parser.
There are three methods to install libsidutils-dev on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsidutils-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libsidutils-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libsidutils-dev
Install libsidutils-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libsidutils-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libsidutils-dev
Install libsidutils-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libsidutils-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libsidutils-dev
How To Uninstall libsidutils-dev on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libsidutils-dev package we can use the following command:
