Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libshout3-dev on Ubuntu.
What is libshout3-dev
libshout3-dev is:
A library for communicating with and sending data to Icecast and Icecast 2 streaming audio servers. It handles the socket connection, the timing of the data transmission, and prevents bad data from getting to the server.
This is a transitional dummy package to ease upgrades to libshout-dev.
There are three methods to install libshout3-dev on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libshout3-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libshout3-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libshout3-dev

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libshout3-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libshout3-dev
Install libshout3-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libshout3-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libshout3-dev
How To Uninstall libshout3-dev on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libshout3-dev package we can use the following command:
