Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libsambox-java on Ubuntu.
What is libsambox-java
libsambox-java is:
SAMBox is an Apache PDFBox 2.0.0 fork intended to be used as PDF processor for Sejda and PDFsam related projects. The main differences between PDFBox and SAMBox are:
- Lazy loading/parsing of PDF objects
- Multiple I/O implementations to read from
- Minimized garbage collection through the use of a pool of java.lang.Stringbuilder
- PDF streams are read directly from the underlying source through the concept of bounded views
- Removal of unused PDFBox features like preflight validator, fdf and digital signature
- Documents can be saved using objects stream to store PDF objects
There are three methods to install libsambox-java on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libsambox-java Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libsambox-java using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libsambox-java
Install libsambox-java Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libsambox-java using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libsambox-java
Install libsambox-java Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libsambox-java using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libsambox-java
How To Uninstall libsambox-java on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libsambox-java package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libsambox-java
Uninstall libsambox-java And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libsambox-java and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libsambox-java
Remove libsambox-java Configurations and Data
To remove libsambox-java configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libsambox-java
Remove libsambox-java configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libsambox-java configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libsambox-java
