Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install librte-meta-event on Ubuntu.

What is `librte-meta-event`

librte-meta-event is:

DPDK is a set of libraries for fast packet processing. Applications run in user-space and communicate directly with dedicated network interfaces.

This is a metapackage to pull in all the librte event libraries.

There are three methods to install librte-meta-event on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install librte-meta-event Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install librte-meta-event using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install librte-meta-event

Install librte-meta-event Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install librte-meta-event using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install librte-meta-event

Install librte-meta-event Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install librte-meta-event using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install librte-meta-event

How To Uninstall librte-meta-event on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the librte-meta-event package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove librte-meta-event

Uninstall librte-meta-event And Its Dependencies

To uninstall librte-meta-event and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove librte-meta-event

Remove librte-meta-event Configurations and Data

To remove librte-meta-event configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge librte-meta-event
