In this tutorial we learn how to install librrds-perl on Ubuntu.
What is librrds-perl
librrds-perl is:
The Round Robin Database Tool (RRDtool) is a system to store and display time-series data (e.g. network bandwidth, machine-room temperature, server load average). It stores the data in Round Robin Databases (RRDs), a very compact way that will not expand over time. RRDtool processes the extracted data to enforce a certain data density, allowing for useful graphical representation of data values.
This package contains a Perl interface to RRDs using a shared library: Rrds.
There are three methods to install librrds-perl on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install librrds-perl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install librrds-perl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install librrds-perl
Install librrds-perl Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install librrds-perl using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install librrds-perl
Install librrds-perl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install librrds-perl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install librrds-perl
How To Uninstall librrds-perl on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the librrds-perl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove librrds-perl
Uninstall librrds-perl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall librrds-perl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove librrds-perl
Remove librrds-perl Configurations and Data
To remove librrds-perl configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge librrds-perl
Remove librrds-perl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove librrds-perl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge librrds-perl
