In this tutorial we learn how to install libresteasy-java on Ubuntu.

What is libresteasy-java

libresteasy-java is:

RESTEasy is a JBoss project that provides various frameworks to help you build RESTful Web Services and Java applications. It is a fully certified and portable implementation of the Java API for RESTful Web Services (JAX-RS) specification. JAX-RS is a new Java Community Process (JCP) specification that provides a Java API for RESTful Web Services over the HTTP protocol.

There are three methods to install libresteasy-java on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libresteasy-java Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libresteasy-java using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libresteasy-java

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libresteasy-java using apt by running the following command:

Install libresteasy-java Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libresteasy-java using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libresteasy-java

How To Uninstall libresteasy-java on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libresteasy-java package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libresteasy-java

Uninstall libresteasy-java And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libresteasy-java and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libresteasy-java

Remove libresteasy-java Configurations and Data

To remove libresteasy-java configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libresteasy-java

Remove libresteasy-java configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libresteasy-java configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libresteasy-java
