In this tutorial we learn how to install libreoffice-qt5 on Ubuntu.

What is libreoffice-qt5

libreoffice-qt5 is:

LibreOffice is a full-featured office productivity suite that provides a near drop-in replacement for Microsoft(R) Office.

This package contains the Qt 5 plugin for drawing LibreOffices widgets with Qt 5 and a Qt File Picker and print dialog.

There are three methods to install libreoffice-qt5 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libreoffice-qt5 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libreoffice-qt5 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libreoffice-qt5

Install libreoffice-qt5 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libreoffice-qt5 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libreoffice-qt5

Install libreoffice-qt5 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libreoffice-qt5 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libreoffice-qt5

How To Uninstall libreoffice-qt5 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libreoffice-qt5 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libreoffice-qt5

Uninstall libreoffice-qt5 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libreoffice-qt5 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libreoffice-qt5

Remove libreoffice-qt5 Configurations and Data

To remove libreoffice-qt5 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libreoffice-qt5

Remove libreoffice-qt5 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libreoffice-qt5 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libreoffice-qt5
