In this tutorial we learn how to install libqb-dev on Ubuntu.

What is libqb-dev

libqb-dev is:

libqb provides a set of high performance client-server reusable features. It offers high performance logging, tracing, IPC and poll. Its initial features were spun off the Corosync cluster communication suite to make them accessible for other projects.

This package contains libqb’s development files. You will need it to develop applications using libqb.

There are three methods to install libqb-dev on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libqb-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libqb-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libqb-dev

Install libqb-dev Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libqb-dev using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libqb-dev

Install libqb-dev Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libqb-dev using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libqb-dev

How To Uninstall libqb-dev on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libqb-dev package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libqb-dev

Uninstall libqb-dev And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libqb-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libqb-dev

Remove libqb-dev Configurations and Data

To remove libqb-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libqb-dev

Remove libqb-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libqb-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libqb-dev
