In this tutorial we learn how to install libproxychains4 on Ubuntu.
What is libproxychains4
libproxychains4 is:
Proxychains is a UNIX program, that hooks network-related libc functions in dynamically linked programs via a preloaded DLL (dlsym(), LD_PRELOAD) and redirects the connections through SOCKS4a/5 or HTTP proxies. It supports TCP only (no UDP/ICMP etc).
This project, proxychains-ng, is the continuation of the unmaintained proxychains project (known as proxychains package in Debian).
This package provides the runtime shared library used by proxychains-ng program.
There are three methods to install libproxychains4 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libproxychains4 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libproxychains4 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libproxychains4
