Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libpmem1
on Ubuntu.
What is libpmem1
libpmem1 is:
libpmem provides low level persistent memory support. In particular, support for the persistent memory instructions for flushing changes to pmem is provided.
This library is provided for software which tracks every store to pmem and needs to flush those changes to durability. Most developers will find higher level libraries like libpmemobj to be much more convenient.
This package provides binary runtime for version 1 of the API.
There are three methods to install libpmem1
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libpmem1 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libpmem1
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libpmem1

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libpmem1
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libpmem1
Install libpmem1 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libpmem1
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libpmem1
How To Uninstall libpmem1 on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libpmem1
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libpmem1
Uninstall libpmem1 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libpmem1
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpmem1
Remove libpmem1 Configurations and Data
To remove libpmem1
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libpmem1
Remove libpmem1 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
