In this tutorial we learn how to install libphutil
on Ubuntu.
What is libphutil
libphutil is:
libphutil (pronounced as “lib-futile”, like the English word futile) is principally the shared library for Arcanist and Phabricator, but is suitable for inclusion in other projects. In particular, some of the classes provided in this library improve the state of common operations in PHP, like executing system commands.
There are three methods to install libphutil
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libphutil Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libphutil
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libphutil

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libphutil
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libphutil
Install libphutil Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libphutil
