How To Install libpal-java on Ubuntu

In this tutorial we learn how to install libpal-java on Ubuntu.
What is libpal-java
libpal-java is:
The PAL project is a collaborative effort to provide a high quality Java library for use in molecular evolution and phylogenetics. At present PAL consists of approximately 200 public classes/interfaces in 16 packages Please refer to the API documentation for a detailed description of all classes and methods available, and to the release history for an overview of the development history of PAL.
There are three methods to install libpal-java on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libpal-java Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libpal-java using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libpal-java
Install libpal-java Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libpal-java using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libpal-java
Install libpal-java Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libpal-java using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libpal-java
How To Uninstall libpal-java on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libpal-java package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libpal-java
Uninstall libpal-java And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libpal-java and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libpal-java
Remove libpal-java Configurations and Data
To remove libpal-java configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libpal-java
Remove libpal-java configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libpal-java configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libpal-java
