Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libotf1 on Ubuntu.
What is libotf1
libotf1 is:
The libotf library provides the following facilities:
- Read Open Type Layout Tables from OTF file. Currently these tables are supported; head, name, cmap, GDEF, GSUB, and GPOS.
- Convert a Unicode character sequence to a glyph code sequence by using the above tables.
The combination of libotf and the FreeType library (Ver.2) realizes CTL (complex text layout) by OpenType fonts.
This package contains the runtime part of libotf.
There are three methods to install libotf1 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libotf1 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libotf1 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libotf1
Install libotf1 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libotf1 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libotf1
Install libotf1 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libotf1 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libotf1
How To Uninstall libotf1 on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libotf1 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libotf1
Uninstall libotf1 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libotf1 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libotf1
Remove libotf1 Configurations and Data
To remove libotf1 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libotf1
