In this tutorial we learn how to install libosmocore18 on Ubuntu.
What is libosmocore18
libosmocore18 is:
This is part of the libosmocore “meta”-library. The libosmocore library contains various utility functions that were originally developed as part of the OpenBSC project, but which are of a more generic nature and thus useful to (at least) other programs that are developed in the sphere of Free Software / Open Source mobile communication.
The libosmocore library in particular is a collection of common code used in various sub-projects inside the Osmocom family of projects.
There are three methods to install libosmocore18 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libosmocore18 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libosmocore18 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libosmocore18

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libosmocore18 using apt by running the following command:

Install libosmocore18 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libosmocore18 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libosmocore18
How To Uninstall libosmocore18 on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libosmocore18 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libosmocore18

To uninstall libosmocore18 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libosmocore18

To remove libosmocore18 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libosmocore18
