What is libodbc2
libodbc2 is:
UnixODBC is an implementation of the Open Database Connectivity standard, a database abstraction layer that allows applications to be used with many different relational databases by way of a single library.
This package provides the unixODBC Driver Manager library.
There are three methods to install libodbc2
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libodbc2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libodbc2
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libodbc2

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libodbc2
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libodbc2
Install libodbc2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libodbc2
Remove libodbc2 Configurations and Data
To remove libodbc2
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libodbc2
