on Ubuntu.
What is libnsl2
libnsl2 is:
This package contains the libnsl library, which contains the public client interface for NIS(YP) and NIS+. This code was formerly part of glibc, but is now standalone to be able to link against TI-RPC for IPv6 support.
There are three methods to install libnsl2
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libnsl2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libnsl2
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libnsl2

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libnsl2
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libnsl2
Install libnsl2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libnsl2
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libnsl2
How To Uninstall libnsl2 on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libnsl2
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libnsl2
Uninstall libnsl2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libnsl2
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libnsl2
Remove libnsl2 Configurations and Data
To remove libnsl2
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libnsl2
