Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libmutter-10-0 on Ubuntu.

What is libmutter-10-0

libmutter-10-0 is:

Mutter is a Wayland display server and X11 window manager and compositor library. It contains functionality related to, among other things, window management, window compositing, focus tracking, workspace management, keybindings and monitor configuration.

Internally it uses a fork of Cogl, a hardware acceleration abstraction library used to simplify usage of OpenGL pipelines, as well as a fork of Clutter, a scene graph and user interface toolkit.

This package contains the window manager shared library, used by mutter itself, and gnome-shell.

There are three methods to install libmutter-10-0 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libmutter-10-0 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libmutter-10-0 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libmutter-10-0

How To Uninstall libmutter-10-0 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libmutter-10-0 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libmutter-10-0

sudo apt-get -y purge libmutter-10-0

We can use the following command to remove libmutter-10-0 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
