Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libmu-dbm8 on Ubuntu.

What is libmu-dbm8

libmu-dbm8 is:

GNU Mailutils is a rich and powerful protocol-independent mail framework. It contains a series of useful mail libraries, clients, and servers.

This is GNU’s Mail abstraction library dbm support component. This library allows programs to hook into a single library for many different types of mail backends. The following backend stores are currently provided: mbox, mh, maildir, dotmail, pop3, imap4.

There are three methods to install libmu-dbm8 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libmu-dbm8 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libmu-dbm8 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libmu-dbm8

Install libmu-dbm8 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libmu-dbm8 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libmu-dbm8

Install libmu-dbm8 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libmu-dbm8 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libmu-dbm8

How To Uninstall libmu-dbm8 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libmu-dbm8 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libmu-dbm8

Uninstall libmu-dbm8 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libmu-dbm8 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libmu-dbm8

Remove libmu-dbm8 Configurations and Data

To remove libmu-dbm8 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libmu-dbm8

Remove libmu-dbm8 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libmu-dbm8 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libmu-dbm8
