How To Install libmpc3 on Ubuntu

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libmpc3 on Ubuntu.

What is libmpc3

libmpc3 is:

MPC is a portable library written in C for arbitrary precision arithmetic on complex numbers providing correct rounding. For the time being, it contains all arithmetic operations over complex numbers, the exponential and the logarithm functions, the trigonometric and hyperbolic functions.

Ultimately, it should implement a multiprecision equivalent of the ISO C99 standard.

It builds upon the GNU MP and the MPFR libraries.

There are three methods to install libmpc3 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libmpc3 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libmpc3 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libmpc3

Install libmpc3 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libmpc3 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libmpc3

Install libmpc3 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libmpc3 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libmpc3

How To Uninstall libmpc3 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libmpc3 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libmpc3

Uninstall libmpc3 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libmpc3 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libmpc3

Remove libmpc3 Configurations and Data

To remove libmpc3 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libmpc3

Remove libmpc3 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libmpc3 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libmpc3
