What is libmlt-data
libmlt-data is:
MLT is an open source multimedia framework, designed and developed for television broadcasting. It provides a toolkit for broadcasters, video editors, media players, transcoders, web streamers and many more types of applications. The functionality of the system is provided via an assortment of ready to use tools, xml authoring components, and an extendible plug-in based API.
This package contains the data files for the MLT multimedia framework.
There are three methods to install libmlt-data on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libmlt-data Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libmlt-data using apt-get by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libmlt-data using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libmlt-data

To uninstall only the libmlt-data package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libmlt-data

To uninstall libmlt-data and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libmlt-data
Remove libmlt-data Configurations and Data
To remove libmlt-data configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libmlt-data
