In this tutorial we learn how to install libmawk1 on Ubuntu.

What is libmawk1

Libmawk is a fork of the popular awk implementation mawk, and aims to be the lightweight script language programmers embed in their application.

This implementation also supports some minor extensions over mawk:

Besides the shared object, an lmawk binary is also installed, which is command-line-compatible with mawk but provides all those extra features.

There are three methods to install libmawk1 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libmawk1 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libmawk1 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libmawk1

Install libmawk1 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libmawk1 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libmawk1

Install libmawk1 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libmawk1 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libmawk1

How To Uninstall libmawk1 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libmawk1 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libmawk1

Uninstall libmawk1 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libmawk1 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libmawk1

Remove libmawk1 Configurations and Data

To remove libmawk1 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libmawk1

Remove libmawk1 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libmawk1 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libmawk1
