Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libmaus2-dev on Ubuntu.
What is libmaus2-dev
libmaus2-dev is:
Libmaus2 is a collection of data structures and algorithms. It contains
- I/O classes (single byte and UTF-8)
- bitio classes (input, output and various forms of bit level manipulation)
- text indexing classes (suffix and LCP array, fulltext and minute (FM), …)
- BAM sequence alignment files input/output (simple and collating)
and many lower level support classes.
This package contains header files and static libraries.
There are three methods to install libmaus2-dev on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libmaus2-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libmaus2-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libmaus2-dev

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libmaus2-dev using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install libmaus2-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libmaus2-dev
How To Uninstall libmaus2-dev on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libmaus2-dev package we can use the following command:

To remove libmaus2-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libmaus2-dev
