on Ubuntu.
What is libmaloc1
libmaloc1 is:
MALOC is a small, portable, abstract C environment library for object- oriented C programming. MALOC is used as the foundation layer for a number of scientific applications, including MC, SG, and APBS. MALOC can be used as a small stand-alone abstraction environment for writing portable C programs which need access to resources which are typically architecture-dependent, such as INET sockets, timing routines, and so on. MALOC provides abstract datatypes, memory management routines, timing routines, machine epsilon, access to UNIX and INET sockets, MPI, etc. All things that can vary from one architecture to another are abstracted out of an application code and placed in MALOC.
There are three methods to install libmaloc1
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libmaloc1 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libmaloc1
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libmaloc1

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libmaloc1

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libmaloc1
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libmaloc1
How To Uninstall libmaloc1 on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libmaloc1
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libmaloc1
Uninstall libmaloc1 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libmaloc1
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libmaloc1
Remove libmaloc1 Configurations and Data
To remove libmaloc1
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libmaloc1
Remove libmaloc1 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libmaloc1
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libmaloc1
