In this tutorial we learn how to install libmail-dkim-perl on Ubuntu.
What is libmail-dkim-perl
libmail-dkim-perl is:
RFC 4871, DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM), defines a domain-level authentication framework for email using public-key cryptography and key server technology to permit verification of the source and contents of messages by either Mail Transport Agents (MTAs) or Mail User Agents (MUAs).
Mail::DKIM is a Perl implementation created by Jason Long of Messiah College. It performs signing as well as signature verification. It also supports the older DomainKeys standard.
This library further includes support for adding and verifying Authenticated Received Chain (ARC; RFC 8617) assertions.
There are three methods to install libmail-dkim-perl on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libmail-dkim-perl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libmail-dkim-perl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libmail-dkim-perl

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libmail-dkim-perl using apt by running the following command:

Install libmail-dkim-perl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libmail-dkim-perl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libmail-dkim-perl
How To Uninstall libmail-dkim-perl on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libmail-dkim-perl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libmail-dkim-perl

To uninstall libmail-dkim-perl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

To remove libmail-dkim-perl configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libmail-dkim-perl
