In this tutorial we learn how to install libion0 on Ubuntu.

What is libion0

libion0 is:

Interplanetary Overlay Network (ION) software distribution is an implementation of Delay-Tolerant Networking (DTN) architecture as described in Internet RFC 4838.

This is a suite of communication protocol implementations designed to support mission operation communications across an end-to-end interplanetary network, which might include on-board (flight) subnets, in-situ planetary or lunar networks, proximity links, deep space links, and terrestrial internets.

Included in the ION software distribution are the following packages:

There are three methods to install libion0 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libion0 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libion0 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libion0

Install libion0 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libion0 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libion0

Install libion0 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libion0 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libion0

How To Uninstall libion0 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libion0 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libion0

Uninstall libion0 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libion0 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libion0

Remove libion0 Configurations and Data

To remove libion0 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libion0

Remove libion0 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libion0 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libion0
