Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libimath-dev on Ubuntu.

What is libimath-dev

libimath-dev is:

Imath is a basic, light-weight, and efficient C++ representation of 2D and 3D vectors and matrices and other simple but useful mathematical objects, functions, and data types common in computer graphics applications, including the “half” 16-bit floating-point type.

Imath also includes optional Python bindings for all types and functions, including optimized implementations of vector and matrix arrays.

This package provides the development files for Imath.

There are three methods to install libimath-dev on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libimath-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libimath-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libimath-dev

Install libimath-dev Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libimath-dev using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libimath-dev

Install libimath-dev Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libimath-dev using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libimath-dev

How To Uninstall libimath-dev on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libimath-dev package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libimath-dev

Uninstall libimath-dev And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libimath-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libimath-dev

Remove libimath-dev Configurations and Data

To remove libimath-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libimath-dev

Remove libimath-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libimath-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libimath-dev
