In this tutorial we learn how to install libhealpix0 on Ubuntu.
What is libhealpix0
libhealpix0 is:
HEALPix is an acronym for Hierarchical Equal Area isoLatitude Pixelization of a sphere. As suggested in the name, this pixelization produces a subdivision of a spherical surface in which each pixel covers the same surface area as every other pixel. It is commonly used to store all-sky astronomical images, most famously maps of the cosmic microwave background.
This package provides the Fortran language implementation of HEALPix.
There are three methods to install libhealpix0 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libhealpix0 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libhealpix0 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libhealpix0

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libhealpix0 using apt by running the following command:
