What is libguestfs0

The libguestfs library allows accessing and modifying guest disk images. It offers the following features, among many others:

It uses the Linux kernel and qemu code, and can access any type of guest file system that Linux and qemu can, including but not limited to: ext2/3/4, btrfs, FAT and NTFS, LVM, many different disk partition schemes, qcow, qcow2, vmdk.

The library provides ways to enumerate guest storage (such as partitions, LVs, what file system is in each LV, etc.); to run commands in the context of the guest; and to upload and download files and directories.

There are three methods to install libguestfs0 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libguestfs0 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libguestfs0 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libguestfs0

Install libguestfs0 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libguestfs0 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libguestfs0

Install libguestfs0 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libguestfs0 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libguestfs0

How To Uninstall libguestfs0 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libguestfs0 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libguestfs0

Uninstall libguestfs0 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libguestfs0 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libguestfs0

Remove libguestfs0 Configurations and Data

To remove libguestfs0 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libguestfs0

Remove libguestfs0 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libguestfs0 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libguestfs0
