Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libgsasl7 on Ubuntu.
What is libgsasl7
libgsasl7 is:
GNU SASL is an implementation of the Simple Authentication and Security Layer framework and a few common SASL mechanisms. SASL is used by network servers (e.g., IMAP, SMTP) to request authentication from clients, and in clients to authenticate against servers.
Supported mechanisms are ANONYMOUS, EXTERNAL, LOGIN, PLAIN, SECURID, NTLM, DIGEST-MD5, CRAM-MD5, SCRAM-SHA-1, SCRAM-SHA-1-PLUS, GS2-KRB5, GSSAPI.
This package includes the GNU SASL shared library that is required by applications using GNU SASL. You normally don’t need to install it manually.
There are three methods to install libgsasl7 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libgsasl7 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libgsasl7 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libgsasl7

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libgsasl7 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libgsasl7
Install libgsasl7 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libgsasl7 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libgsasl7
How To Uninstall libgsasl7 on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libgsasl7 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libgsasl7
Uninstall libgsasl7 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libgsasl7 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libgsasl7
Remove libgsasl7 Configurations and Data
To remove libgsasl7 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libgsasl7
Remove libgsasl7 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libgsasl7 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
