Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libglib-object-introspection-perl on Ubuntu.
What is libglib-object-introspection-perl
libglib-object-introspection-perl is:
GObject is an abstraction layer that allows programming with an object paradigm that is compatible with many languages. It is a part of Glib, the core library used to build GTK+ and GNOME.
This package contains Glib::Object::Introspection, the Perl binding generator for libraries that support gobject-introspection, such as GTK+, WebKit, libsoup and many more.
To use perli11ndoc, the Perl introspection documentation tool, the -dev version of the introspected library must be installed. For example, perli11ndoc can only show documentation for libgtk3-perl if libgtk-3-dev is installed.
There are three methods to install libglib-object-introspection-perl on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libglib-object-introspection-perl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libglib-object-introspection-perl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libglib-object-introspection-perl
Install libglib-object-introspection-perl Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libglib-object-introspection-perl using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libglib-object-introspection-perl
Install libglib-object-introspection-perl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libglib-object-introspection-perl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libglib-object-introspection-perl
How To Uninstall libglib-object-introspection-perl on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libglib-object-introspection-perl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libglib-object-introspection-perl
Uninstall libglib-object-introspection-perl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libglib-object-introspection-perl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libglib-object-introspection-perl
Remove libglib-object-introspection-perl Configurations and Data
To remove libglib-object-introspection-perl configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libglib-object-introspection-perl
Remove libglib-object-introspection-perl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libglib-object-introspection-perl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libglib-object-introspection-perl
