In this tutorial we learn how to install libga-dev on Ubuntu.

What is libga-dev

libga-dev is:

GAlib contains a set of C++ genetic algorithm objects. The library includes tools for using genetic algorithms to do optimization in any C++ program using any representation and genetic operators. The documentation includes an extensive overview of how to implement a genetic algorithm as well as examples illustrating customizations to the GAlib classes.

This package contains the development files.

There are three methods to install libga-dev on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libga-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libga-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libga-dev

Install libga-dev Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libga-dev using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libga-dev

Install libga-dev Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libga-dev using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libga-dev

How To Uninstall libga-dev on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libga-dev package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libga-dev

Uninstall libga-dev And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libga-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libga-dev

Remove libga-dev Configurations and Data

To remove libga-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libga-dev

Remove libga-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libga-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libga-dev
