In this tutorial we learn how to install libfmt8 on Ubuntu.

What is libfmt8

libfmt8 is:

This library provides fast, type-safe, small, C++11-aware replacement of (s)printf and related machinery. In some cases it’s noticeably faster than boost::format, boost::lexical_cast and even sprintf itself.

This package contains the shared library.

There are three methods to install libfmt8 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libfmt8 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libfmt8 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libfmt8

Install libfmt8 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libfmt8 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libfmt8

Install libfmt8 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libfmt8 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libfmt8

How To Uninstall libfmt8 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libfmt8 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libfmt8

Uninstall libfmt8 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libfmt8 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libfmt8

Remove libfmt8 Configurations and Data

To remove libfmt8 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libfmt8

Remove libfmt8 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libfmt8 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
