In this tutorial we learn how to install libfido2-1 on Ubuntu.

What is libfido2-1

libfido2-1 is:

A library for communicating with a FIDO device over USB, and for verifying attestation and assertion signatures. FIDO U2F (CTAP 1) and FIDO 2.0 (CTAP 2) are supported.

This package contains the library.

There are three methods to install libfido2-1 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libfido2-1 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libfido2-1 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libfido2-1

Install libfido2-1 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libfido2-1 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libfido2-1

Install libfido2-1 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libfido2-1 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libfido2-1

How To Uninstall libfido2-1 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libfido2-1 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libfido2-1

Uninstall libfido2-1 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libfido2-1 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libfido2-1

Remove libfido2-1 Configurations and Data

To remove libfido2-1 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libfido2-1
