In this tutorial we learn how to install libervia-tui on Ubuntu.

What is `libervia-tui`

libervia-tui is:

Libervia is a multi-frontends, multi-purposes communication tool, based on the XMPP standard. It features:

instant messaging
microblogging
file sharing
games
group permissions (share what you want with the people you choose)
interaction with other networks (IRC, StatusNet, other XMPP networks)
email client access (use your favorite mail user agent (MUA) to communicate on the supported networks)
extensible design

This package contains libervia-tui, Libervia’s interactive console interface (curse-based).

There are three methods to install libervia-tui on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libervia-tui Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libervia-tui using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libervia-tui

Install libervia-tui Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libervia-tui using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libervia-tui

Install libervia-tui Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libervia-tui using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libervia-tui

How To Uninstall libervia-tui on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libervia-tui package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libervia-tui

Uninstall libervia-tui And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libervia-tui and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libervia-tui

Remove libervia-tui Configurations and Data

To remove libervia-tui configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libervia-tui
