In this tutorial we learn how to install libepsilon-dev on Ubuntu.

What is libepsilon-dev

libepsilon-dev is:

Epsilon is C library for wavelet based lossy image compression. Wavelet-driven compressors are know to be much more effective than traditional DCT-based ones (like JPEG).

At the moment, the program supports about 30 different wavelet filters, runs in parallel in multi-threaded and MPI environments, can process huge images and much more.

This package contains development stuff.

There are three methods to install libepsilon-dev on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libepsilon-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libepsilon-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libepsilon-dev

Install libepsilon-dev Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libepsilon-dev using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libepsilon-dev

Install libepsilon-dev Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libepsilon-dev using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libepsilon-dev

How To Uninstall libepsilon-dev on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libepsilon-dev package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libepsilon-dev

Uninstall libepsilon-dev And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libepsilon-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libepsilon-dev

Remove libepsilon-dev Configurations and Data

To remove libepsilon-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libepsilon-dev

Remove libepsilon-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libepsilon-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libepsilon-dev
